 Next to the cap and the bathing suit (nearly fully covering
body except the arms) this woman also has a parasol. Covering so much
of the body was a question of the modesty of those days and the fashion
of having a fair complexion. --- |

 In those days men often wore one-piece bathing suits. Note that this is a two-piece suit. So far we are not sure if is this was a just another style or if this suit was a new fashion in those days. --- |
